10 Cancer Warning Signs You Should Never Ignore

10 Warning Signs of Cancer

Cancer caught early is often treatable and even curable. Knowing the warning signs can save your life. Here are 10 symptoms you should never ignore.

1. Unexplained Weight Loss

Losing more than 5 kg (10 lbs) without trying can be an early sign of cancer — especially pancreatic, stomach, esophageal, or lung cancer.

2. Persistent Fatigue

Extreme tiredness that doesn't improve with rest may indicate leukemia or colon cancer. If fatigue persists for more than 2 weeks, see a doctor.

3. Lumps or Thickening

Any new lump in the breast, neck, armpit, or groin should be evaluated. Not all lumps are cancer, but early evaluation is crucial.

4. Changes in Skin

  • A mole that changes in size, shape, or color
  • A sore that doesn't heal within 3 weeks
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)

  • 5. Persistent Cough or Hoarseness

A cough lasting more than 3 weeks, or a change in voice that persists, can be a sign of lung, laryngeal, or thyroid cancer.

    6. Changes in Bowel or Bladder Habits

  • Blood in stool or urine
  • Persistent constipation or diarrhea
  • Frequent urination or difficulty urinating

  • 7. Difficulty Swallowing

Persistent difficulty or pain when swallowing may indicate esophageal, throat, or stomach cancer.

    8. Unexplained Bleeding

  • Coughing up blood
  • Blood in stool (dark or bright red)
  • Unusual vaginal bleeding
  • Blood in urine

  • 9. Persistent Pain

Ongoing pain without a clear cause, especially in the back, bones, or abdomen, should be investigated.

    10. Night Sweats

Drenching night sweats (not related to menopause or room temperature) can be a sign of lymphoma or leukemia.
